Colour Your World Blog Hop! Season Like Christmas

Colouryourworldheader

It's time for our monthly Colour Your World Blog Hop! Each month my demo friends from around the world post a project using a colour palette we've chosen.  Sometimes I use all the colours in the palette and other times just a few.  This month I was able to incorporate all four of them!

The weather in Vancouver has turned to fall and we have rainy days followed by crisp sunny ones.  Those days are my favourite of the year.  Not hot, just sunny and brisk. My card today uses the Season Like Christmas stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue.

CYW Season Like Christmas 1 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

I started with Shimmery White paper.  I find that adding water to this paper works best as it doesn't absorb the water and pill the paper.  I washed Smoky Slate over the middle of the paper with an Aqua Painter.  I thought it looked like a smoky sky.  What do you think? The Season Like Christmas stamp set is a 2 step stamp which simply means that you can create dimension with your stamps as one is stamped on top of the other.  In my sample I used Old Olive for both the first stamp and the one on top but I stamped off the first one on a scrap to lighten the colour.  This one is actually a 3 step as the little "ornaments" is stamped on top of the two tree images.

CYW Season Like Christmas 3 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

I substituted the Champagne Foil Sheet paper for Smoky Slate in my mat - I think it adds a little sparkle and elegance and resembles Smoky Slate in keeping with the palette.

I'm the first to admit that I'm obsessed with Wink of Stella and added some to the branches of my tree to give it some extra sparkle.  And of course rhinestones for the night stars and some bling!

Here's how I made today's card:

  1. Fold an 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" Sugarplum cardstock in half to form card base.
  2. Glue 5 1/4" x 4" Champagne Foil Sheet to the front of the card.
  3. Add a Smoky Slate wash with an Aqua Painter to the middle of a 5" x 3 3/4" piece of Shimmery White cardstock.  Let dry.
  4. Ink the bolder image of the tree in Old Olive, stamp off once on a scrap piece of paper and then stamp in the middle of the card.
  5. Ink the detailed image of the tree in Old Olive and stamp on top of the first tree.
  6. Ink the trunk image in Always Artichoke and stamp in the middle of the tree.
  7. Ink the "decorations" in Sweet Sugarplum and stamp on the tree.
  8. Ink the sentiment in Sweet Sugarplum and stamp to the right of the tree as shown.
  9. Add some Clear Wink of Stella to the branch of the tree.
  10. Glue the stamped piece to the card.
  11. Add rhinestones in the sky.

Card Swap Sunday - Merry Cafe

It's Card Swap Sunday and today's card was made by my friend Liane Binder.  Liane used the Merry Cafe stamp set from the 2017 Holiday Catalogue with the coordinating Coffee Cups Framelits from the Annual Catalogue.

12 Weeks Xmas 4 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

I love the Winter Wonder Textured Impressions Embossing Folder because it adds a subtle texture to the card without looking too "busy".  Liane added some Wink of Stella to the snowflake to add some bling.  It reminds me of sparkly snow.

Card Swap Sunday Merry Cafe www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

Liane embossed the lid image in White on Glossy White cardstock and then cut out with the coordinating die.  I love this because the lid look "real" with the embossing.  So clever.  The little teabag is from the Coffee Cups Framelits and adds just a little detail .   I'm a tea drinker.  How about you? Leave me a comment and you'll be entered in a draw to receive my four Just in Case cards from this month.  Anyone can leave a comment but only Canadians can win the blog candy.

Here's the products used in today's card (click the pictures and be directed to my online store):

Border Buddies - Quilted Christmas isn't just for Christmas!

Hello Stampers,

It's Border Buddy Saturday today, Patsy here.  The Quilt Builder Thinlits Dies are not just for Christmas.  In the Holiday Catalog, the Quilted Christmas Stamp Set & the coordinating Quilt Builder Thinlits are surrounded by Christmas paper and colors which makes one think only of Christmas.  However, if you change up the colors and designer paper you have a stamp set and thinlits for any occasion.

Border Budday Saturday Hope Card Quilted Builder Framelits Dies & Petal Garden Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 3

Here is a great example of a card that doesn't say Christmas at all.   This unique design was inspired by the sample in the Holiday Catalog.

Quilt Builder Thinlits Dies by Stampin' Up!

To achieve the outline 6 petal flower I took the die on the left and then placed the die on the right in the center and ran it through the big shot.  This gave me the thin outline flowers and the 6 petals.  I placed the outline flower on the cardstock and then placed the cut out petals inside with a glue dot, then I removed the outline flower which left just the petals.

Border Budday Saturday Hope Card Quilted Builder Framelits Dies & Petal Garden Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up! www.stampstodiefor.com 2

I used my favorite color Calypso Coral along with my favorite designer paper Petal Garden.   I placed a piece of Cardstock Vellum on top of the pattern paper to give it a unique layer look.   I cut out "hope" from the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Die and Big Shot and applied with dimensionals.  The card is finished off with one of the Gold Binder Clips and tied some of the Calypso Coral Ombre Ribbon in a bow on the binder.

There are so many possibilities with this versatile stamp set and dies.

Just in CASE - Gift Packaging

6a00d83455691269e201b8d2a8954f970c

It's Thursday and time for Just in CASE! This is the day Patsy Waggoner and I (my Border Buddy) share a project we've CASED from a Stampin' Up! publication.  We sometimes copy it exactly or we use it as inspiration for a similar project made with different colours or stamps or both!

CASE = Copy and Share Everything

Today I'm sharing a cute gift packaging idea for our quarterly Stampin' Up! Demonstrator publication called Stampin' Success.  This magazine is full of inspiring ideas and business tips for demonstrators.  You'll have to take my word for it that this is inside the magazine because we can't share pictures from it publicly. I've had a hard time not eating that Oatmeal Raison cookie.  What's your favourite cookie? Leave a comment and you'll be entered to win all of my Just in Case cards from October.

Christmas Packaging Class 4 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

How cute (and yummy) is this packaging idea?  What a sweet way to give a homemade baked good to a friend or neighbour.  You could replace the cooking with anything edible.  The cookie fits inside an Acetate Card Box which has been cut in half.  I shredded some Designer Series Paper for the bottom.  I just used my office shredder and put a little container under the blades to catch the patterned paper.

Full instructions will be included in my weekly newsletter on Sunday.  Make sure you are signed up to receive it!

Gift Packaging Candle 3 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

Here's another adorable packaging idea from the same magazine.  I'm loving the black and white themed products in the 2017 Holiday Catalogue especially the 7/8" Striped Ribbon.  The edges are wired but if you want a softer bow you can easily remove it from both seams.

Gift Packaging Candle 1 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

When I was on the Stampin' Up! Incentive Trip I won the Green Sprigs as one of the daily prizes and I must say I wasn't impressed.  I thought "what will I do with these plastic sprigs?".  I have had to eat my words as I'm now loving them along with the Mini Ornaments to adorn packaging.

Gift Packaging Candle 2 www.stampcrazywithalison.ca

I've applied some Embossing Paste (with a paint brush) and Dazzling Diamond Glitter to the sprigs (before the paste dried) and it makes a huge difference. This tip was shared on a demonstrator board I belong to and it made them even cuter!
